Project Description

In August 2008, Advanced American Construction, Inc. was awarded the contract to construct a new foundation for the Glama Manipulator at Jorgensen Forge in Seattle. The rail mounted Glama Manipulator is part of Jorgensen Forge’s upgrade of their 2,500-ton press. The project consisted of demolishing the existing rails and concrete, as well as, excavating for the new foundation. The two-stage concrete foundation is 70 ft. long by 30 ft. wide with a 2-inch steel cover over the center thickened slab. Additional work included installation and grouting of the manipulator rails and swing arm. The entire contract was performed without disrupting Jorgensen Forge production.
